Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus Are the Smartphone You Will Not Be Ashamed to Own


After numerous leaks and official teasers, Xiaomi finally introduced a new generation of budget smartphones — Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. As expected, Xiaomi Redmi 5 received a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440×720. The smartphone is running the Snapdragon 450 processor clocking at 1.8GHz and Adreno 506 graphics. In fact it is a slightly simplified version of Snapdragon 625. It comes in two versions: with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB and 32GB of internal memory. You can also expand the storage with a 128GB microSD card.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is equipped with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ screen (2160×1080 pixels). Inside there is an eight-core Snapdragon 625 processor, which was used in the previous generation of Redmi smartphones. The handset boards 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of ROM respectively. It also sports a 4000mAh battery and runs MIUI 9.

Both devices received a single 12-megapixel camera with a pixel size of 1.25 μm, f/2.2 aperture, and a PDAF phase auto-focus. The selfie camera has 5MP. On the metal rare panel of the device there is a fingerprint scanner and on the upper edge, you can see an IR-port and a 3.5-mm audio jack. Wi-Fi 5 GHz is only supported by the Plus version.
