Xiaomi Mi 5X and MIUI 9: What Do We Have Here?
Yesterday Xiaomi unveiled Mi 5X. Almost everything about the smartphone was known long before the launch, so there were almost no surprises during the presentation. The smartphone, just like we thought, turned out pretty relevant in a market that is already full of impressive devices. Let’s sum up facts about it.
Mi 5X’s camera is the same dual-lens module that debuted on the Mi 6. There is a 12MP telephoto sensor and a 12MP wide-angle one. Combined, these will allow to create beautifully blurred backgrounds, focusing on the subject of the photograph. That is something you won’t get from a single sensor. The camera is also with a phase detection autofocus and a dual LED flash. The selfie-shooter sports a resolution of 16 megapixels and allows you to shoot Full HD videos at 30 fps.

Xiaomi Mi 5X will run MIUI 9 OS. It is based on Android 7 Nougat, which means you will get the newest features from Google’s software, for example, you can run two apps side-by-side in a split-screen mode. MIUI 9 brings in three key innovations: searching for photos by different keywords, a Smart Assistant, which will be available only after the release of the international firmware version (for now it is available only for China) and the Smart App Launcher for quick launch of applications and services, depending on the content displayed on the screen.
MIUI 9 will land on almost any Xiaomi device, including Mi 2 and Mi 2S models, which are still used by more than 5 million people.
