Xiaomi Has Started Working on Surge 2

This February saw the launch of Xiaomi chipset called Surge S1 and the first phone to receive the processor was Xiaomi Mi 5c. The company reported that it had taken more than two years to develop the octa-core architecture. According to the latest rumors, the company is working on Surge 2 at the moment.

Surge S1 was manufactured by TSMC. It is likely that the second-generation chipset is going to feature the same manufacturer. However, unlike the Surge 1 with its already outdated 28-nm process technology, Surge 2 is said to be made based on the 16nm process node.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear, which of the possible upcoming Xiaomi smartphones are going to get Surge 2. We expect Xiaomi Mi 6c and Xiaomi 6s that are rumored to be released at the end of the year to have such a jewel on board.
