Smartphones That Will Never Be Updated to MIUI 10
MIUI 9 became available for download and installation not only for devices of recent years but also for those launched around five years ago. In this regard, Xiaomi has surpassed Apple that never updates its smartphones that have more than four years of age to new versions of iOS. Xiaomi updated Mi 2 released more than four years ago. Recently the company has revealed a list of handsets that would never be updated to MIUI 10. According to official data, the owners of Xiaomi Mi 2, Mi 2s, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 4G, Mi 4i and Mi Note will not be able to install the new firmware. About five more models are in question as well.
Xiaomi does not see any sense to update its outdated smartphones. This is explained by the fact that they are usually used by people, who do not want to change them to something more modern. Such users do not need the most advanced software, as they will not use it. Thus MIUI 10 for such smartphones does not make any sense at all. On the other hand, the newest smartphones and those released during the last two or three years.
It is not quite clear what the new MIUI will bring. We hope Xiaomi will make an emphasis on increasing the speed of work, improving stability and adapting all firmware to the international market. Xiaomi has been trying to increase its presence in Europe and other regions in recent years. Maybe its new software will finally be adapted for Europe or at least for the English-speaking population.
It is expected that MIUI 10 will be based on the Android 8.0 Oreo. It should be presented somewhere in July—September of 2018 and in the autumn of the same year it will be available for the download.
